Got an instant message from Dad last night saying I needed to toss up an update letting people know some progress on this and that.
WoW – Walkin on Water Ministries – I’ve been slacking on this… with the radiation, end of school and my surgery things have been placed on the back burner.
Radiation – Going smoothly as far as I can tell. Things are WAY better then doing chemo! I am loosing some weight, down from 200 to 194 pounds as of today (Friday the 14th… phew close one… almost Friday the 13th *girlish highpitched scream*). Side effects thus far… diarrhea and tiredness… moreso then Chemo tiredness. Doctor says things are looking good though and treatments are going well.
School – End of the year kinda hyperness from the students. Spring is in the air so the kids don’t really wanna have school anymore. I get a lot of “why do we have to do work” or “can we have a day with no homework” or “today we’re not supposed to have work” etc, so basically everyday is a day to just goof off and do no work. That means my classes really need to be good and interesting or the kids feel they need to express their feelings with moans, groans, and whines! Because of radiation I will not be able to attend the 8th grade class trip. Which is OK I guess, the 8th graders wanted to join the 9-10th graders on their Cruise so they have been doing a lot of fund raising that I have not been able to attend because of chemo, radiation or surgeries.
Surgery – This morning I awoke at 4:45am to sleepily get dressed, slap on some deodorant and brush these stinky teeth. Amy and I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 to do paperwork, preop care and what not for my port removal. For those of ya who don’t know what that is, its the thing in my chest/shoulder area that they used to stick needles into to give me my chemotherapy. It is no longer necessary since I have completed my chemo treatments and have moved on to radiation! at about 7:30 they wheeled me into the OR where I scooted over onto the diving board sized OR table and went to sleep. Surgery went well and the doc let me keep the port. So I will TRY and get some pics up soon of that and the lovely drawings on my chest and belly for the radiation targeting. I am home right now in pain and tired from the surgery but thats OK because it’s the weekend and I still have seasons 4 and 5 of Scrubs to watch before sundown.
Amy – Is awesome as usual. Shes did awesome like on her presentation for her Masters class. She made me some lasagnia to eat this weekend, got me some chocolate milk and a CADBURRY EGG!!! I guess shes trying to reverse that loss of 6 pounds *sigh* Since her mother is heading to Arizona this week on a travel nursing assignment she zipped down for the night to spend some quality time with Sharon and John. It is good for her to spend some time down there and for me to just be able to relax, sleep in, do what I want etc and clean up the house some while shes gone. I miss her but I know its important for her and her family time.
Dogs – They are shedding like crazy. Cheyenne is the most notable. She has a very thick coat shes loosing to a very thin coat. You can just grab a handful of hair and pull it out… its really weird. Dakota is also shedding, probably more hair but it’s not as noticable for some reason.
Well I think thats about it for right now. I am thinking of rolling over, grabbing a book and reading for a bit before bed. So Happy Sabbath everyone and enjoy your wonderful weekend!!!
Hey, Geoff with a G! I’ve got teacher worship next week and am using some of your blogs to show God’s glory. Just a few weeks left. So GLAD to hear the chemos over and you’re radioactive now. Are you still planning to do Outdoor Ed. this summer? Sure hope so. Myrna, Laura, Amy, Renee and I will be back. Watch out!!!!! C-ya, Carolyn
