Just a quick note before class…

Wednesday April 5th, 2006.

Today at 3:45 I will recieve my first radiation treatment. Friday of last week I recieved a CT Sim (marking off areas of a scan then using that scan to zero in on the spot needing radiation) and yesterday I recieved a second CT Sim that is a bit higher on my torso as well as some X-rays. Today starts the last leg of this journey that has been an interesting trip.

Hopefully I will have my port removed within the next couple of weeks so that I have plenty of time to recover before starting on my Masters May 30th.

I hit the 200 pount mark when I went to see my radiologist last Thursday. That has motivated me to get my behind in gear and start exercising. So on Monday and Tuesday I have started running. I come home, change, grab Dakota and run around the neighborhood then drop him off and pick up Cheyenne and run for a bit then walk at a steady pace. Hopefully once I get in better shape my endurance will pick up as well as the intensity. It feels good to get out and do something. Mowed the lawn last week as well and it just felt good.

Anyway I will try to update more after this radiation treatment so I can keep those who want to know in the know. They say I will mostly be tired from the treatments. After the 2nd or 3rd week I may develop some diarrhea as a side effect, I can’t wait! (lots of sarcasm in that last statement!)

Off to staff worship… have a great Wednesday (weeks half over after today!)

hey, you know you can now do radiation treatments at home? just turn your microwave on high for 30 minutes and stand in front of it. this is actually a more effective therapy for patients! dont let the hospitals tell you any different, they just want your money!
